WHAT WE DO
We educate our membership and the general public regarding music and the music industry, with the goal of encouraging growth and development of the industry in the San Antonio area. In addition, we provide networking opportunities for our members. We meet the third Tuesday of each month (unless otherwise noted) for a program or event. Activities which TMC organizes to accomplish our goals consist of:
FREE SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS: We host speakers and panels of top music professionals on a monthly basis, presenting topics such as songwriting, entertainment law, artist management and promotion, recording studio production and equipment, building a home recording studio, relationships with music venues, performance techniques, music-related careers, music marketing on the internet, etc.
EVENTS: We sponsor Texas Music Month in October, featuring an intense series of weekly seminars on various aspects of the music industry and an annual fundraiser. We host an annual mixer for the music industry in June, featuring recorded music by members, and present several music showcases throughout the year.
SERVICES: We publish a directory of members, listing their musical talents/interests, to enable members to obtain assistance and advice from one another. News on members is posted in our newsletter, The Coalition Chronicle, and on our website, www.texasmusiccoalition.org, which includes a gigs page for performing members and a bulletin board that is open to the music community from the local to the international level. In addition to providing opportunities for members to perform in our showcases, we sponsor a Songwriters Circle that is open all. TMC membership cards are honored for discounts at a variety of area merchants.
